ESB technicians are trying to restore power to thousands of customers in Dublin.
Up to 20,000 people were affected this morning and engineers say service is now almost completely restored.
A fire at an ESB substation caused the outage this morning.
The blaze broke out in the early hours at a transformer on Brewery Road in Leopardstown.
Three units of the Dublin fire brigade attended the scene.
The outage has left residential areas in the dark including Blackrock, Mount Merrion, Stillorgan, Booterstown and Rathfarnham.
Dublin Fire Brigade are warning all households to ensure electric ovens, blankets and heaters are turned off.
As power is restored by @ESBNetworks in South Dublin, ensure that electric ovens, electric blankets & heaters etc are turned off. #staysafe
