Boland’s Mill in the Dublin docklands is to get a complete redevelopment in offices and apartments.
Planning permission for the site will be lodged with Dublin City Council tomorrow by receivers Savills.
The site has been under NAMA's control since 2012 and the agency will provide the €150 million needed for the construction of three new buildings, which will run to 14 floors. The 395,000 square foot parcel of land will be able to accommodate 2,300 workers and will also have 42 luxury apartments.
It will mean the demolition of existing buildings. Savills say they are aware of the history attached to Boland's Mill and hope to get the approval of planners early next year.
“Boland’s Mill is the most iconic and recognisable Dockland frontage sites in Dublin,” says Mark Reynolds a director of Savills. “We have taken a careful conservation approach to the wealth of existing heritage buildings of character. In particular, care has been taken to actively integrate these buildings and their planned new uses into the new public realm and into new relationships with the proposed new buildings and the waterfront.”
The redevelopment is the biggest construction project in the city centre since end of the Celtic Tiger.
