Anyone planning a trip to the Netherlands can now live the high life by renting out a rather unusual Airbnb – a KLM airliner that’s been converted into a pop-up apartment.
While there’s no shortage of peculiar hostels and inns all over the world, but now aviation geeks all over the world will be paying for priority seating to get aboard this one. From November 28th to 30th, the converted MD-11 jet at Amsterdam’s SchipolAirport will be available for residents.
Rule No. 1: No flying. Really.
The Dutch airliner has refurbished one of its retired planes into a spacious two-bedroom apartment, with a large living room and 116 windows. Wi-Fi is included, as well as eight pokey bathrooms.
But know this before you book a red-eye to the city where red-eyes are the norm, KLM will be choosing who gets to spend the nights in the jet. You have to plead your case to one of the company’s ‘contact hosts’, who might fly you to the Netherlands for free and let you crash in the grounded plane.

There are a few rules involved, though, and here is what KLM and Airbnb is asking passengers to respect:
• No flying.
• Don’t use the inflatable emergency slide.
• Smoking is not allowed when the non-smoking sign is on.
• No marshmallow roasting with the jet engines.
• Please water our plants and feed our fish.
• The consumption of alcohol is not allowed.
• Please treat our plane like you treat your own plane.
