The Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has said TDs Clare Daly and Mick Wallace have no more or less rights than anyone else.
Her comments came after Deputy Daly was released from Limerick prison yesterday evening, following a stay of just over one hour following her arrest on Wednesday night.
The United Left TD arrived at Limerick Prison following her arrest for failing to pay a court fine imposed for breaching security at Shannon airport.
Upon her release, Ms Daly empathised with the Syrian refugees: "When you’re on the edge of thinking that you’re going to be separated from your family at this time of year it puts you very much in the shoes of those Syrian families who are permanently separated from their loved ones as a result of the horrendous war that’s going on on their soil and we are complicit in that by continuing to allow Shannon Airport to be used."

She was the second TD to enter the prison yesterday, following the arrest and imprisonment of Mick Wallace. Mr Wallace was released after roughly two hours.
The pair appeared in court earlier this year as part of their efforts to stop American military jets, taking part in the Iraq war, refueling at Shannon airport.
They were both handed €2,000 fines but after they failed to pay they were re-arrested today.
A rather solemn Ms Daly, who wore a baseball cap, declined to speak to waiting media when she arrived at the prison, although she gave a thumbs up gesture
Minister Fitzgerald told the Pat Kenny Show here on Newstalk that new fines legislation is on its way.
