US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has confirmed he will visit Ireland later this month.

Mr Trump, who has secured enough votes for the White House nomination, says he will also be visiting Scotland.

He says he will visit the Trump Turnberry resort in Ayrshire "to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated" site on June 22nd.

He will then move on to the Trump International Golf Links Scotland in Aberdeenshire.

Finally, the billionaire says he will visit his Irish resort in Doonbeg, Co Clare - calling it "the magnificent resort fronting on the Atlantic Ocean".

The visit also coincides with the trip of US Vice President Joe Biden to Ireland - who is here from June 21st-26th.

And the news of the Trump visit comes just two days after Taoiseach Enda Kenny described Mr Trump's comments as "racist and dangerous", adding that "there is an alternative" for US voters.

Mr Trump says he will then return to the US on June 25th.

His visit to the UK comes a day before Britain votes in its 'Brexit' referendum.

More than 500,000 people have signed a petition calling for Mr Trump to be banned from entering the UK.

It follows his call for a "total and complete shutdown of Muslims" entering the US and his claim that parts of London were "so radicalised" that police were "afraid for their own lives".
