The French Ambassador to Ireland, Jean-Pierre Thébault, has addressed a service in Dublin to honour the victims of the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack in Paris.
The gathering was organised by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the Dubh Linn Garden in Dublin Castle.
The NUJ described the ceremony as an opportunity to defend the right to freedom of expression.
Industry, political representatives, civil society and trade unions were represented - as well as members of the French community in Ireland.
A roll call of the victims was read out during the event, followed by a minute silence.

Tomorrow, a number of events are taking place across the country to show solidarity with the people of France.
Big numbers are expected at a march in Dublin city - gathering at the Spire on O'Connell Street from 12pm.
In Cork, a silent vigil will be held at noon in Daunt Square, while people will gather at the Spanish Arch in Galway at the same time.
Books of condolence are also opening next week in Dublin and Galway.
Cathaoirleach of the NUJ Irish executive council, Gerry Curran, explained earlier why they felt compelled to organise the event today.
