Rickie Fowler has confirmed that Rory McIlroy has approached him about taking part in next year's Irish Open.
McIlroy's charitable foundation has agreed to act as an official tournament host for next year's tournament at Royal County Down and the World No 1 has already set about trying to tempt some of the biggest stars in the game to compete.
McIlroy's foundation will help to promote the tournament at a venue where he made his final appearance as an amateur, in the 2007 Walker Cup.
Fowler (25) suggested that he is giving participation some thought.
"I've known that Rory was going to announce it and we've already talked about it. I'm trying to work that into the schedule," said the World No 10.
