Airbnb released figures yesterday which showed that Dublin-based hosts made €52m in 2016 as 403,500 visitors came to the city and used the service.
But its Irish offerings are not all two bedroom apartments in Temple Bar - there are castles all over the country listed in the site.
Here are five that took our fancy
Blackwater Castle
This property in Castletownroche, North Cork is listed on the site for €2,500 for 24 hours, €3,000 for 3 days/2 nights or €4,000 for 4 days/3 nights.
It sleeps 25 across 9 suites - and also has six reception rooms and a bar.
It is set on a 50 acre wooded estate, has a private river, and also claims to house "10,000 years of history."
It is a 5 minute walk from the village of Castletownroche.
Ballyhannon Castle
The 15th Century Celtic castle in Clare can house 11 guests.
It costs €1,250 per night - and can handle events with up to 150 people.
It's become a favourite for weddings.
The interior is faithful to the building's heritage.
Wilton Castle
Moving east to just outside of Enniscorthy in country Wexford, this property describes itself as a "19th century castellated residence set on the banks of the Boro River."
It's listed for €1,000 per night - and sleeps 14 people.
Medieval Towerhouse
This host says their father spent 25 years restoring this medieval castle - and it looks like the effort paid off.
"There are no televisions and at the moment no wifi due to the thickness of the walls!" visitors are warned, making it perfect for a tech-free getaway.
It's also located just 5 minutes from Kilkenny City if you are worried about being too isolated.
At weekends it costs €900 per night and sleeps 10 people.
Shankhill Castle
Staying in Kilkenny, this slightly less old castle is perfect for a weekend getaway.
It can house up to 15 guests, and is just 16km from Kilkenny City.
