Many of us use WhatsApp as a primary form of communication. Here's how to backup your chats and ensure you don't lose any of your information, should you get a new phone.
It's possible to backup your WhatsApp data using Google Drive and/or a local backup. Local backups will be automatically created every day at 2am and they will be saved as a file in your phone.
iPhone:
If you're an iPhone owner, you'll find that your device backs your WhatsApp chats to the iCloud automatically. You can check this by visiting Settings > Chats > Chat Backup.

- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap the Menu Button > Settings > Chats > Chat backup.
- Here you can tap Back Up to create an immediate backup, and you can also tap on Backup to Google Drive to set up a backup frequency.
- If you do not have a Google account already set up, tap Add account when prompted.
