The world is marking International Men's Day - as the numbers of male victims of domestic abuse increase.
The day seeks to focus on men's and boy's health, improving gender relations, promoting equality and highlighting positive male role models.
The theme for this year is to 'Make a Difference for Men and Boys'.
The day is seen as an occasion for men to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care while highlighting the discrimination against them.
It is celebrated in over 60 countries around the world.
It comes as AMEN - the only organisation in Ireland specifically for male victims of domestic abuse - says it saw a 36.8% increase in contacts during 2014.
Its fifth annual report says 6,660 men made contact with them in total.
The organisation also says there was a 39% increase in helpline calls in 2014, as well as a 47% rise in one-to-one support.
This represents an 82% increase on 2012.
AMEN says 86% of helpline callers were Irish, 53% were married, and 95% of men contacting them had children.
One of the men behind these statistics 'Joe' - not his real name - told his story to Newstalk Lunchtime.
