A post mortem is expected to take place today on the body of a man discovered in Galway.

Gardaí in Salthill are investigating the discovery in Quincentennial Park on Saturday morning.

The body of the man, aged in his mid-40s, has been removed to University Hospital Galway.

The local coroner has also been notified.

Gardaí say the outcome of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
