Sinn Féin's Mary Lou McDonald has offered to ring the developer behind the Longboat Quay apartments and ask him personally to cover the cost of remedial work.

Ms McDonald said today in the Dáil that she would be happy to make a personal appeal to developer Bernard McNamara - but she can't find his phone number.

The offer came after Deputy McDonald made a new appeal to the Taoiseach to intervene personally in the dispute.

Deputy McDonald says if the Taoiseach won't make a direct appeal, she will.

"I think you as Taoiseach need to intervene.

"I can only take it from your response that you didn’t seek out Mr Bernard McNamara.

"I tried to get a telephone number for him, I haven’t been successful. If anybody does have contact details please do pass them on and I will ring him myself."

Owners and residents at Longboat Quay have said they are considering legal action to recover the cost of emergency repairs at the apartment complex.

The cost of repairs to bring the complex up to required safety standards is estimated at €4m.

Residents say the Dublin Docklands Development Authority and the receiver handling the apartments are 'responsible' for the situation.

They are giving them a week to increase their offer of financial support.

Earlier they met with Environment Minister Alan Kelly - describing the meeting as 'productive'.
