North Korea is moving with the times, by creating its own.

The reclusive country is to create its own timezone by moving its clocks back by 30 minutes.

The official KCNA news agency says this is to mark the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese rule.

Local time in North Korea, South Korea and Japan has been the same since Japan's rule over what was single Korea from 1910 to 1945.

The change to what is being called "Pyongyang time" is to come into effect from August 15th.

KCNA claims "wicked Japanese imperialists" have been depriving Korea of its standard time.

South Korea says the time difference could cause some logistical issues with the North, such as the running of their joint industrial park in the city of Kaesong.
