Agreement has been reached in talks between nursing unions and the Health Service Executive (HSE).
The negotiations at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) centred around overcrowding in emergency departments.
The union representing nurses, the INMO, says the HSE and Department of Health will implement all strands of an original agreement.
This is set to include filling all vacant nursing posts, and additional staff to deal with admitted patients.
It comes as the latest trolley watch figures from the INMO show 475 people waiting for hospital beds - with more than 350 of those on trolleys.
The worst affected hospitals today are University Hospital Limerick at 39 and Beaumont Hospital in Dublin with 38.
St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny stands at 32, while Dublin's Tallaght Hospital has 29 people waiting.
And University Hospital Galway has 30 people waiting for a bed.
General-secretary of the INMO, Liam Doran, told Newstalk Lunchtime they still need over 1,000 acute beds.
