At least 40 people have been killed and around 100 others are being held hostage following a series of coordinated attacks in Paris on Friday night.
In the wake of those attacks, and as the situation continues to unfold, a number of people have take to social media to being a campaign to help those who might be stranded on the streets or looking for shelter away from the attacks.
The #PorteOuverte hashtag has seen people tweeting their location, or a place where they will be welcome to spend the night and get off the streets as a state of emergency was declared.

Meanwhile, others have pointed out the importance of not sharing your location publicly, and instead using Twitter's DM function to coordinate locations.

Meanwhile taxi drivers in the capital have decided to switch off their metres and help people around the city for free.
