A petition that wanted to offer of national unification to Northern Ireland and Scotland has been rejected by the Oireachtas.
The petition was submitted by a Mr Paul Lorrigan following the Brexit vote by the UK, and the decision by those in the North and Scotland to remain in the European Union.
It had sought to extend an "offer of National Unification to Northern Ireland and Scotland".
However, Petitions Committee chair Seán Sherlock says it will proceed no further.
"The decision of the Committee is to forward a copy of the response received from the department to the petitioner and to close the petition - is that agreed?" he asked.
To which other members replied: "Agreed".
