The Rehab Group Board has confirmed that its Chief Executive, Angela Kerins, receives an annual salary of €240,000.

The charity has come under pressure to reveal details of her pay after it emerged it only made a profit of under €10,000 on scratchcard sales of almost €4,000,000.

Last week the government admitted it could not force the charity to abide by public pay caps because it is a Section 39 agency.

But following a board meeting today, the Group released the details.

Along with the salary, Ms. Kerins is also given a 6% contribution to her pension and is provided with a company car.

The board says it seeks the advice of independent experts to inform its decisions on the pay of senior management.

In a statement, the Group added that "The rate of pay for the Rehab Group Chief Executive is significantly below the market median".

The Rehab Group Chairman Brian Kerr has said "We are satisfied that this is competitive and fair remuneration for the person leading the Rehab Group".

"We are conscious that the Irish government and public bodies are very important stakeholders of the Rehab Group. We share a common desire to make quality and relevant services available to people who need them and we are conscious of recent calls for the salary of the Chief Executive to be published again" he added.

The CEO of Fundraising Ireland says the salary is 'out of kilter' with other salaries in the charity sector. Anne Hannify says the salary is quite high.
