Senator Zappone says it is clear that local people are looking for a strong voice in the Dáil to demand policies which will deliver for Tallaght, Rathfarnham and Citywest.
The Senator says local people and families want progressive change – and this election is the opportunity to deliver that.
Confirming her decision to run Senator Zappone added:
“Since the end of last year it has been a privilege to engage with local people in Dublin South West ahead of the Marriage Referendum. Together with my spouse, Ann Louise Gilligan and the team of Yes Equality supporters we received a fantastic welcome on the doorsteps, at shopping centres and at community events.
It was clear that people in Dublin South West believe in equality, however it was also evident that they are weary of old school politics which has led to years of austerity, unfair cuts and disillusionment.
I want to change that. It is time for our communities to have a strong voice in the Dáil which can deliver fairer policies and help families overcome the challenges they face on a daily basis.”
Senator Zappone also said that this General Election has the potential to change Irish politics forever.
“It is an opportunity to deliver a new community based focus, where the needs of the people are the top priority. The culture of bonuses, golden circles old boys clubs has no place in that future.”
