A ship from Sierra Leone has been allowed to dock in the Dublin Port this morning. The Grande Argentina arrived just after midnight last night from Freetown.
The HSE stated that the cargo ship gave a full declaration of health. Self-declaration is the standard manner of procedure for a ship arriving in to the port.
Th new procedures have been imposed on all ships which have called to areas affected by the Ebola virus - Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria and Guinea.
According to the Irish Times, there are no plans for a specific inspection by HSE public health experts while the vessel is docked.
The Department of Health says the risk of Ebola coming into Ireland is low, but the health service is prepared to deal with it.
Meanwhile, Cabinet is meeting later to discuss the Ebola crisis, with each Minister updating their area of responsibility.
