Armagh have gone back below ground after calling off the press conference that had been scheduled for today.

Last night, the GAA announced that Armagh captain Ciarán McKeever and assistant manager Peter McDonnell would speak to the media ahead of their All-Ireland quarter final against Donegal.

But Croke Park was forced to make an embarrassing climb down this morning when it emerged that the Armagh management had not sanctioned the event and the press conference was cancelled at short notice.

The GAA says it will endeavour to make sure that Armagh players and management will be available for interview before and after Saturday's match but BBC Northern Ireland say that the media ban is now firmly back in place for the build-up to the game.

It is believed that the Armagh management were unhappy with the deal that was struck between the GAA and the Armagh county board which had led to the planned press conference and that Paul Grimley and his team wanted to limit their media activity to a select group of local media but did not want to speak with any members of the national media.
