Everyone has their own little landmarks that mark the end of summer, whether it's the end of the GAA season, Electric Picnic, or the Rose of Tralee, the opening of the Brown Thomas Christmas store cannot be a good sign.
While opening 128 days before 'the big day' might sound a bit over the top - the shop says that it's responding to consumer demand.
Brown Thomas Managing Director, Stephen Sealey revealed that "3,000 units of Christmas decorations" were sold within three days of the dedicated festive departments opening in Dublin, Cork and Limerick last August.
"The Christmas Market opens at the same time every year due to customer demand ... We find there is a positive response from shoppers, with trees and some decorations selling out as early as October," he continued.

Buyers from the retailer start sourcing products for Christmas in January - it says that this year's offering is based around a number of themes, including ‘Venetian Chic’, ‘Winter Palace’, ‘Yule Tide’, and ‘Nutcracker Suite.’
