A Fianna Fáil TD has decreased Donald Trump as a western Government's worst nightmare.
John Lahart has been speaking following the announcement that the presumptive Republican nomination for the White House will arrive in Ireland later this month.
Earlier this week the Taoiseach described some Mr Trump's statements as racist and dangerous.
Cabinet sources have briefed various media outlets this weekend that a meeting between the Taoiseach and Mr Trump will not be necessary.
The simultaneous timing of Mr Trump's visit with that of current US Vice-President Joe Biden is presenting the Government and An Garda Síochána with a major security headache.
Deputy Lahart says the timing of the Trump visit is significant.
"I think he could end up being a lot of western governments' worst nightmare... there'd usually be a great carnival around the visit of a vice-president.
"You can imagine where the caravan of journalists is going to be [now]."
