Gardaí are investigating an overnight assault on two members of An Garda Síochána in Finglas, Co Dublin.
At approximately 1:50am this morning, a male Garda Sergeant and a female Garda approached a number of men at Aylward Green. One of these men assaulted the two Gardaí, with both members sustaining injuries.
The Sergeant received facial injuries and the Garda sustained a fractured wrist. Both members were taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
Two men in their 20s have been arrested in connection with this incident and are due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning, Monday 17th April 2017.
Mayo assault
It follows an incident in which two Gardaí in Claremorris, Co Mayo were assaulted while on mobile patrol.
Three men between the ages of 18 and 22 were arrested and will appear before a special sitting of the Mayo Circuit Court in Castlebar, Co Mayo.
