A New Orleans judge who visited Brian Hanrahan, the garda who was shot in the city earlier this week, has stated that he is “mortified, embarrassed and outraged” about the attack.
Brian Hanrahan, who is from Tipperary but based in Newcastle West garda station, was shot twice when he was robbed while on holidays earlier this week.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
New Orleans' Judge James McKay says those found guilty of the shooting will face the full force of the law:
Police have released surveillance footage of two persons of interest and are seeking the public's help in tracing them.
One of the male subjects was described as black, standing about 5’07, small build, slim face, salt-pepper beard, wearing a black hoodie, gray pants, and wearing possible white sneakers.
Police say they are armed and considered dangerous.
