If you're an Android phone user, you may well have set your phone up to suit your needs and wants, but are you maximising all of the features of the phone? Did you know, for example, that it's possible to screen-pin? You may well wonder what that means, so here's all you need to know.

Screen pinning is a feature of Android devices that enables the user to only show a specific app screen. This means all other functions of the phone are locked, apart from the one app that is pinned. 

This is incredibly handy for parents who give their phones to their children. It's possible to pin YouTube, for example, meaning that all other functions of your phone are locked down. 

To enable this mode, follow these steps:

Settings > Security > Other security settings > Pin windows

• To pin an app, tap on the overview button (it's the square button along the bottom of your screen).
• In the bottom-right corner of the app overview will be a blue pin button. Tap on it.
• Each time you pin an app, you'll be asked to confirm the action. 
• Tap on Start to pin the app.

Once an app is pinned, the user can navigate anywhere within the app, but it is not possible to leave it.

To exit a pinned app touch and hold the back and overview buttons at the same time. After a couple of seconds, your device will switch to the overview screen.
