The body of a woman has been discovered in the grounds of a church in Dublin city.

Gardaí were alerted by members of the public to the remains at St Michan's Church at around 6.00am on Saturday morning.

The area has been sealed off and a technical exam is underway.

A post-mortem is due to take place later today and investigations are ongoing.
