While the government’s ECB deal and its impact on our grandchildren hogged the headlines this week, the Magdalene Laundries report into what happened to a certain generation of Irish children still rightly lingers in the background.

Many may think that this chapter in Irish state history belongs in the annals but are we confident that such negligence isn’t still happening in Modern Ireland’s care system?
