Apple cannot name their new smartwatch an 'iWatch' because the name has already been patented by an Irish-based company.
A software firm called Probendi bought the European trademark for the name back in 2008.
It is run by Italian man Daniele Di Salvo, but is based in Athlone.
This means the tech giant may have to stick with the name 'Apple Watch' to add to its selection of iMacs, iPods and iPads.
Mr Di Salvo is the director of Probendi and says that 'iWatch' was first developed as an app for his clients.
But Mr Di Salvo says he cannot answer any questions as to whether or not he has been contacted by Apple.
