Astronaut Chris Hadfield will be honoured by the city of Dublin.
The spaceman, 53, returned to earth with his crew around 3:30am last Tuesday when their Soyuz capsule in landed in a Kazakhstan desert.
The awards recognise individuals who have made a special contribution to Dublin and its citizens.
Lord Mayor Naoise O Muiri feels the Canadian astronaut is the "obvious choice" for the award after he tweeted breathtaking photos of Ireland and Dublin from space to almost one million Twitter followers.
Hadfield's daughter, Kristen, who is a student at Trinity College, will accept the award on behalf of her father.
