Police in the UK are investigating an allegation of sexual assault against English football legend Paul Gascoigne.

The 51-year-old was arrested by British Transport Police at Durham railway station last Monday night.

He was arrested in connection with allegations a woman was touched inappropriately on a CrossCountry service from the north-eastern city of York.

The ex-Newcastle, Tottenham and Rangers star was released while police continue to investigate the claims.
