Details of planned performances at a major demonstration in support of survivors of clerical abuse in Dublin city centre have been announced this morning.
The event is being held to coincide with the Pope’s mass at the Phoenix Park in Dublin – which 500,000 people are expected to attend.
The issue of clerical sex abuse is set to dominate the agenda once again this afternoon.
Last night, he spent more than an hour and a half meeting eight survivors of clerical, religious and institutional abuse.
He told them that those involved in corruption and cover up in the church are ‘filth.’
The Pope apologised for what happened at Mother and Baby homes around the country – and indicated that he would say more on the issue today.
The Pontiff landed in Knock, County Mayo this morning where he is visiting Knock Shrine and will pray the Angelus in front of a crowd of 45,000 people.
Organisers of the Stand4Truth event expect thousands to attend – with Villagers, Hozier, Mary Black and Liam Ó Maonlaí all set to perform.
The event will also feature spoken word performances by theatre-maker Grace Dyas, poet Sarah Clancy and activist Colm O’Gorman.
Thiis is the main event page for the #Stand4Truth Dublin event. We gather at the Garden of Remembrance from 2.30pm https://t.co/qoQer1wNbs
This is a solidarity gathering for those affected by abuse - not a protest so we're asking political banners and placards are left at home.

The event gets underway at 2:30pm at the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin.
Performances will get underway at 3pm with Hozier’s performance followed by a 15-minute speech from abuse survivor and Amnesty International Ireland executive director Colm O’Gorman.
The crowd will silently march from the Garden to the last remaining Magdalene Laundry at Sean McDermott Street – where demonstrators will be given the opportunity to leave messages of support for survivors.

I'll be joining #Stand4Truth on Sunday at 2:30pm at the Garden of Remembrance; a peaceful gathering for everyone who has been harmed or abused by the Catholic Church, or who wishes to stand in solidarity with those harmed by its actions. https://t.co/Sri9ilRw5x
