This Christmas, ARC's cancer support centres will provide counselling and support for children and young adults affected by cancer.
To support them, Newstalk is encouraging listeners to donate their used and new board games to ARC to provide some Christmas cheer.
ARC cancer support
ARC's cancer support centres provide a haven from the outside world, offering support to men, women and children (aged 4+) affected by cancer and those who care for them.
They offer a range of psychological, emotional and educational supports including counselling, support groups, wellbeing classes and more.
ARC's goal is to provide psychological, emotional, educational and practical support in a warm and welcoming environment to people with cancer and carers.
ARC provide support to enhance coping skills and improve quality of life - free, confidentially, professionally and sensitively.
Additionally, ARC provides survivorship programmes, complementary therapies and drop-in services to support people during a difficult period to come to terms with the illness.
ARC was established by Professor Des Carney, a leading oncologist in the Mater Hospital. Professor Carney recognised a need for complementary, holistic and psychological support during and after hospital treatment in tandem with patients' medical treatment.
