Aer Lingus Regional, the short haul service operated by Stobart Air, has now carried more than 2 million passengers from Cork Airport.

It started flying from the county in March 2010. The airline currently flies from Cork to nine destinations: Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Southhampton, Manchester, Newcastle, Southampton, Newquay, and as of this summer it is flying to Rennes in France and Cornwall.

More than 6,000 flights are operated every year from the airport, and three aircraft are based there.

Manchester is the largest Aer Lingus Regional route operating out of Cork Airport, this service is operated up to three times per day.

It expects to carry over 330,000 passengers on its Cork network in 2017 - that's 20% more than the total two years ago.

Ronan Whitty, Head of Revenue Management for Stobart Air, commented on the achievement: "We are very excited to have reached this two million passenger milestone through Cork Airport.
