A job listing on Spotify's website has given new life to rumours that the company is working on a wearable.
The company said that it is looking to fill a senior product manager for hardware vacancy - but the listing vanished soon after it was posted.
The advertisement sought, "a passionate and seasoned Senior Product Manager that will join the Platform & Partner Experience team working to build frictionless and creative Spotify experiences via fully-connected hardware devices."
It added that the successful candidate would lead, "an initiative to deliver hardware directly from Spotify to existing and new customers; a category-defining product akin to Pebble Watch, Amazon Echo, and Snap Spectacles."
Unlike other roles, Spotify sent no tweets promoting this vacancy.
It is unclear what form Spotify hardware would take - the website which spotted the listing said that an informed source told it that the company is developing a wearable.
A speaker system would also be a logical move for the firm and demand for smart speakers is on the rise.
Earlier in this month, Spotify signed a long-term licensing deal with Universal Music Group. Under the new agreement, Spotify will restrict access to some new albums from Universal artists to premium subscribers for up to two weeks.
