Netflix is now claiming to be, "among the leading producers and distributors of high-quality European entertainment" in the world - it has some 90 original productions in various stages of development collaborating with some of the continent's top broadcasters.
It's spent $1.75bn licencing and producing European content since 2012.
At a presentation in Berlin, the US firm confirmed new series including period epic TROY: Fall of a City, Black Earth Rising which the service is co-producing in association with BBC One and BBC Two - and Isreali espionage drama The Spy, which it will make with Canal Plus.
It is also developing Watership Down (a new adaptation of Richard Adams’s novel) with the BBC, Kiss Me First (a Black Mirror-style techno-triller) with Channel 4, and it's made the drama Marcella with ITV.
Netflix is yet to partner with an Irish company to produce a show - but it has brought the rights to stream titles like Love / Hate and The Fall in a number of regions.
