AIB's IPO is expected to happen in the coming weeks - ahead of the selection of Fine Gael's new leader on June 2nd, which will mark the end of Michael Noonan's spell as Minister for Finance.
The Dail passed a private motion to delay the privatisation yesterday as many TDs from the Government failed to vote.
The Labour proposal called for the sale to be stalled until the EU's fiscal rules have been renegotiated.
AIB's sale can go ahead as planned despite yesterday's vote.
Both The Irish Times and Irish Independent report this morning that sources have told them that the sale is imminent.

New court filings from a coalition of aviation unions in the US have appealed against the US Department of Transportation's decision to allow Norwegian Air to operate flights between Ireland and the US.
They say the decision "systematically violated virtually every basic rule of treaty interpretation."
Union's have argued that Norwegian is trying to avoid the US's tougher labour rules by setting up an Irish subsidiary.
"Opponents claim that Ireland is simply a 'flag of convenience'. In reality, NAI is headquartered in Dublin with 80 employees, 37 aircraft registered in Ireland, and already operates flights to and from Ireland, with many more routes planned," the company previously commented.
From July, Norwegian will launch a series of new low-cost transatlantic routes from Cork, Shannon and Dublin. The flights will serve smaller airports on the US east coast offering access to the New York, Boston and New England areas.

The official opening of 'Irish Manufacturing Research,' Ireland’s first Independent, industry driven, research and technology organisation will take place today - the project will create 40 jobs.
These positions will include high-tech research roles in the areas of maths, system integration, mechanical engineering, robotics, and additive manufacturing.
It's backed by an initial investment of €15m under the Enterprise-Ireland and IDA Technology Centre programme.

25 new roles are available in Drogheda with Aphix Software - which provides digital ordering systems for online retailers.
These positions, which are supported by the Department of Jobs, through Enterprise Ireland, include customer success, software engineering and development roles.
Recruitment has begun with all positions to be filled over the next 12 to 36 months.
