Leo Varadkar is in London today for his first meeting as Taoiseach with British Prime Minister, Theresa May.

It comes on the day the UK begins formal negotiations to leave the EU.

The UK's Brexit Secretary David Davis and the EU's chief negotiator Michel Barnier will hold talks in Brussels - with the Northern Ireland border set to feature on the agenda.

"While there is a long road ahead, our destination is clear - a deep and special partnership between the UK and the EU. A deal like no other in history," Mr Davis said ahead of the talks.

Britain's Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, said yesterday that the UK will definitely be leaving both the EU single market and the customs union.

Irish business group Ibec has warned that some €400m in State and EU contributions will be required to protect Irish businesses from the fallout of Brexit.

"The way forward remains unclear. If the UK crashes out of Europe, Ireland will need all the policy levers available to respond. State aid will be needed to support companies through any period of adjustment, and tax and labour market policy must ensure Ireland remains internationally competitive," Ibec CEO Danny McCoy warned.

"A post-Brexit EU must take full advantage of Europe's collective strength and influence, but not limit the capacity of member states to respond quickly to external shocks," he continued.

Donald Trump reported income of €11m from his Doonbeg golf resort in County Clare in just 15 months.

The US President - who previously described the club as 'small potatoes' - reported the figure as part of a voluntary financial disclosure.

According to the paperwork, the resort is valued at between $5m and $25m.

Cork is being targeted as one of Europe's flagship docklands projects. A new €1bn development plan for the City Docks and Tivoli Docks will be discussed by planners this week.

The Irish Examiner reports that workshops with interest groups and planners to draft a development guide will take place tomorrow.

It's hoped the region will be transformed into a dynamic urban quarter and will attract thousands of jobs.
