British PM Teresa May is set to intervene in the secondary ticket market as businesses like Viagogo and Stubhub experience strong growth selling tickets to sold-out events at inflated prices.

Conservative MP Nigel Adams asked the PM what will be done to tackle this issue after tickets for an Ed Sheeran cancer charity gig were listed on secondary markets for more than £2,000.

Ms May said that the politician was, "absolutely right to identify circumstances where websites are acting in that way and causing those problems for people who genuinely believe that they are able to buy tickets for what they wish to attend," and that "As a government we are looking at where markets are not working in the interests of consumers."

The British government recently carries out an independent review of the industry, it recommended that an investigation into potential violations of consumer law should be carried out.

Representatives from Ticketmaster and Viagogo are expected to be called to face a select committee as part of the probe into the industry, according to The Guardian.
