280 jobs are to go at a Hewlett-Packard facility in Dublin.
The HP call centre operates pan-European services on behalf of Barclaycard. It will close its centre at Sandyford by March of next year.
220 staff and 60 contractors are being made redundant. However HP says every effort will be made where possible to re-deploy workers to other parts of its business.
The company says this follows a review by one of its clients of their operating model and "a decision to move services closer to their customers in Portugal and Italy".
It adds that workers have been notified of the decision.
In a statement Hewlett-Packard also says its fully committed to continuing to hire new staff in Ireland and is still on schedule to build its new state of the art facility at Ballybrit in Galway.
