74 jobs are being lost in the south-east. Honeywell Turbo Technologies is to lay off the staff from the its plant in Waterford.
The company manufactures engine-boosting systems for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
It is also introducing a reduced work schedule for the rest of this year.
Honeywell says the job losses are the result of a restructuring of its business in Waterford. It has now begun discussions with its staff on a redundancy programme.
It will maintain 300 staff and says it remains committed to providing support to all employees.
The firm is based at the IDA Business Park in Waterford.
