67 new jobs are being created at different firms around the country.
30 new jobs are being announced for the capital as Virtu Financial opens its European Headquarters in Dublin. The electronic trading firm is looking to hire graduates in the fields of mathematics, computer science and other sciences. Virtu is an electronic market maker on numerous exchanges and electronic marketplaces in equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities.
Virtu has consolidated all of its European business into the Dublin office, which is located at Sir John Rogerson's Quay. It also has offices in New York, Austin and Singapore.
Making the announcement, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said "The expansion of Virtu's European HQ in Dublin with the creation of 30 high-skilled jobs is extremely welcome news. It is a vote of confidence in Ireland's pro-business environment and our talented and flexible workforce".
Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton added that it as a "very welcome boost for employment in Ireland".
The Chairman of Virtu, Vincent Viola, said they selected Dublin as their hub "because of the available talent pool of well-qualified and highly-educated people".
This follows the announcement of 25 new jobs at Grant Thornton in Cork and 12 at Maven Telemarketing in Carlow.
Grant Thornton officially opened its new offices in Cork. It plans to hire 25 people to meet demand for specialist services such as advisory services, financial accounting and tax planning.
Gearoid Costelloes is Partner in Charge at Grant Thornton Cork. He said "We are very excited about doing business in Cork, due to its thriving domestic and foreign direct investment opportunities across a range of sectors".
Grant Thornton says this expansion will be reinforced by plans to recruit 125 staff nationwide over the next two years.
While Maven Telemarketing is creating 12 new positions at its base in Enterprise House in Carlow town.
It comes after contracts with multinationals like Vodafone were secured. The company already employs 18 staff.
