US Senator Charles Schumer is calling for a gun designed to look like a smartphone to be banned. The .380 calibre gun could be in shops in the US from as early as this summer.
The device's manufacturer, Ideal Conceal, advertise the device with the following line: "Smartphones are EVERYWHERE, so your new pistol will easily blend in with today's environment."
The list price is $395 and the company describes the gun as having "high velocity and increased accuracy".

The prototype for the gun is expected to be ready in May but Senator Schumer has asked for the Department of Justice to investigate the device before it becomes available. "Just like toys that too much look like handguns should not be sold, handguns that look too much like toys should not be sold," he said.
