The CIA made its first overt foray into the world of Twitter yesterday, and they offered a bit of self-deprecation for the first tweet...

The Tweet got over 200,000 re-tweets and in the first twenty four hours the account has gained a following over 350,000.

The Agency already has a Youtube and Flickr account and this week added a Twitter and Facebook arm to its online presence.

The new social media outlets will be used to give the public career information from the Agency, "the latest CIA updates, #tbt (Throwback Thursday) photos, reflections on intelligence history...fun facts from the CIA World Factbook” and a “glimpse into CIA’s Museum—the best museum most people never get to see,” according to a CIA statement.
