Facebook, the world's most popular social network, has crashed for the second time in two months.

The site, which has 1.3 billion users around the world, apologised for the outage with an online message, saying: "Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can".

The site crashed back in June in an outage reported around the world; in countries including Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan and Holland.

Facebook also crashed in the US in February this year - after previously going offline for four hours in October last year due to network maintenance.

Facebook is one of the most popular websites in the world. It is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange in the US.
