An Irish woman has been appointed as a vice president of technology firm Intel.

Ann-Marie Holmes, who hails from Co Roscommon, has worked as manager at its manufacturing facility in Leixlip, Co Kildare since 2012.

In her role there she is responsible for all aspects of the plant, which employs more than 3,000 people.

She joined Intel Corporation in 1991 as a new college graduate and since then has gone on to work in all four of the fabrication/sort manufacturing facilities in Ireland.

This brings to eight the number of Irish people who now hold vice president positions in the company.

Cork-born Ann Kelleher is corporate vice president and general manager of the technology and manufacturing group.

Eamonn Sinnott is general manager of Intel Ireland and Joe McDonnell - Fab 22 plant manager, who is based in Arizona - are both vice presidents of Intel's technology and manufacturing group.

Rory McInerney, based at Intel headquarters in Santa Clara, is vice president of Intel's architecture group, Martin Curley is vice president of Intel Labs, Philip Moynagh is vice president of the Internet of Things group, and US-based Margaret Burgraff is vice president of the software and services group.

Ms Holmes is an engineering graduate of Trinity College Dublin.

She has worked in Intel all of her career, making her the first Irish graduate hire to go on and become Intel vice president.
