KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is launching a twice-daily flight between Dublin and Amsterdam's Schiphol airport.

The route is part of the airline's new winter schedule, and will run from October 30th.

Fares will start from €99 return from Dublin to Amsterdam and you can book your flights from today.

The daily flights will offer 100 seats each and will be complemented by KLM's current deal with Aer Lingus to offer a total of four flights per day between Dublin and Amsterdam.

Three travel classes will be available: full business and economy classes, as well as an "economy comfort" option.

Air France-KLM's UK and Ireland General Manager Warner Rootliep says the service will be efficient for business travellers and holiday makers:

"Our connections in Amsterdam are excellent [with] Schiphol being a partner and, of course, being an airport which is the most favoured connecting point in Europe...

"In Schiphol, with our own service we will be able to have 40 minute or 50 minute connections depending on whether you connect in Europe or long-haul."

"After five decades away, we’re delighted to welcome KLM back to Dublin Airport.

"This new service will offer enhanced choice and connectivity to passengers travelling to Amsterdam and also for those connecting to onward destinations from the Schiphol hub.

"This new KLM route to Amsterdam will be Dublin Airport’s sixteenth new service in 2016, as the airport continues to expand both its capacity and its route network."

Today's announcement marks 50 years since KLM operated in Ireland.
