There is new hope for finding man's best friend in the US, with a new App for lost dogs.

'Finding Rover' uses facial recognition technology and photos to make finding lost pooches quick and easy.

The app gets people to register their dog in its database and then if someone sees your lost dog, they snap a photo.

Users can report dogs lost or found 

The facial recognition technology does a search and the registered owner is contacted either by phone, e-mail or through the app.

It searches through its database of registered dogs

Unfortunately the app is currently not available on the Irish market.
