A number of Meteor customers have been left without service after “a major fibre break”, according to parent company Eir.
There was also disruption to phone and broadband service for 4,000 fixed line customers in the Leinster region.
The incident occurred near Passage East in Co. Waterford and has left customers experiencing difficulties with top ups, MMS services and data.
Eir have said the areas affected include Duncannon, Ballycullane, Campile, Duncormack, Fethard, Foulksmills and Wellington Bridge
“Our teams have been working through the night to repair the fibre break,” a spokesperson for the company said.
“Repair efforts require a substantial level of work across multiple teams. We are doing everything possible to restore service to all impacted customers. We will provide further updates later today.”
