Reports today suggest that the Finance Minister is considering allowing new home buyers next year from being exempt from paying the property tax.
According to the Irish Independent, Michael Noonan hopes the move will stimulate growth in the property market.
However, experts say if a property tax holiday were to come into effect, it would have to last for at least three years in order to incentivise new buyers.

But when asked about this proposal in Dublin this morning, the Children's Minister Frances Fitzgerald was staying tight lipped on all budgetary affairs.
