The property tax was one of the most searched for terms in Ireland this year. The annual Google Zeitgeist shows Environment Minister Phil Hogan, late actor Paul Walker and Donal Walsh were among the most searched for people in 2013.
We also googled Ryanair, the Royal baby, the Eurovision and Miley Cyrus in huge numbers over the last 12 months. In addition we looked for the meaning of 'twerking', we wanted to know more about Snapchat, the Harlem Shake and 'Selfie's'.
Travel and big events also interested the Irish with 'Trivago' and 'Oxegen' also making it into the top 10 most popular search terms of 2013.
The death of 'Glee' star Cory Monteith - and more recently - the former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela all dominate the top trending Irish searches.
But not all publicity is good publicity as was the case for some of the entrants in this year's list of top trending people which includes: Oscar Pistorius, Nigella Lawson, and Amanda Bynes.
Enda Kenny was the second most-searched politician
This list is also dominated by famous people who died including Margaret Thatcher and 'Sopranos' star James Gandolfini.
Closer to home, Kerry teenager Donal Walsh makes the list this year. He came to national prominence when a letter he wrote appeared in a newspaper making a plea for an end to the suicide epidemic among young people and urging them to appreciate life more. Donal lost his battle with cancer in April.
While TV show 'Breaking Bad' has topped the most popular TV shows searched, 'Love/Hate' and the Rose of Tralee also came up top.
And while the Minister for Environment Phil Hogan tops the list of trending politicians, Mick Wallace was also one of the most-searched.
The Independent TD met with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, his construction company went into receivership and he made headlines for admitting he was caught by a garda driving while using his mobile phone.
